Letterrip 4.0 Change History
Version Pro 4.07 -- May 19, 2006
- Fixed problems handling internal bounces and the proper expiration of queue items.
Version Pro 4.05 -- Feb 18, 2006
- Default Responses now implemented in admin
- We now show the problem domains in the queue report
- Better handling of too many recipient error when sending individually addressed
- Fixed problem with the queue index file not deleting old entries
- Implemented "Find All" in email admin
- Fixed problem where
menus would be stale when disconnecting one admin and then connecting with
another
- Many improvements to admin log viewing
- Various fixes in error reporting using email admin.
- Many changes in the admin where changes wouldn't be saved.
- Switched the format
of the log file to have unix line endings rather than mac line endings.
Changed the admin to recognize either mac or unix line endings.
- NOTE - We also changed the name of the two main logs from "Server
Log" and "Bounce Log" to "Server.log" and "Bounce.log". If you want
to maintain the log for the day that the upgrade is made, change the
name of the files in the finder then open then with a text editor that
can switch the line endings from Mac line endings to Unix line endings.
We use BBEdit.
- Fixed a crash that
would often occur when connecting to the same server twice with the admin
without quitting between connections.
- Implemented sending
Bounce digests to an alternate address, defining how big they should be
and making them optional.
- Now supports sending mail to mail servers that don't have MX record entries
- Support for retrying after DNS errors rather than giving up right away.
- Implemented a new log
format for all user-initiated subscribes and unsubscribes to make them
more easily parsed.
- Fixes admin and server crashes on quit.
- Implements more lenient
way of processing "domain doesn't exist" errors. It will treat the server
as unreachable to account for possible DNS errors
- Two fixes to html rejection code. One to allow html mail to get through when the admin wants to allow it.
The other to prevent html mail from getting through when it isn't allowed.
- Much better address list verification code on boot, to prevent corruption.
- Better parsing of MIME headers to account for some malformed client mail.
- One more html stripping fix. This takes care of all known problems in this area.
- Fixed problem where daily statistics would give wrong counts for address lists.
- More accurate reporting of bounces that were caused by a full mailbox.
- Better handling of bounces from yahoo.com and some qmail servers.
- Support for SMTP-Auth on outgoing connections.
- Fixing some problems in the Server Settings dialogs where changes wouldn't be saved.
- Fixed a bug in the mail rejection strings that prevented changing the first entry.
Version 4.04
-- Feb 12, 2004
- Message-ID headers are now generated for digests and statistics messages
- Fixing redraw problems in the "Mail Rejection Strings" list
- Improved TCP read performance
- The precedence header that is generated is now "List" instead
of "Bulk"
- You can now specify the outgoing SMTP port when using a different SMTP
server
- Better job of translating oddball "content-type" headers
- More fixes for recognizing attachments and various multipart messages
- Re-implemented sorting in the address list windows
- IMPORTANT: The 4.04 admin is not compatible with any server older
than 4.04 and vice-versa. You must use the 4.04 admin with the 4.04 server.
Version 4.03 --
Jan 12, 2004
- Fixed crashing bug in Find Duplicates code.
- Fixed a couple more instances in the admin where a modification wouldn't
be saved.
- Letterrip will now generate message ID's on status mail and digests. Some
spam engines flag messages without message-ids.
- Fixed another problem with messages that contain attachments not getting
forwarded to the list.
- The Email Admin functionality will now accept html formatted messages as
long as they also contain a text/plain portion.
- Fixed a corruption in the Administrators list when an item in the list was
deleted. If you have previously done this, I suggest checking all of your
mail lists to make sure that the correct admin is assigned.
Version 4.02 --
Dec 22, 2003
- Added new windows for the list of Mail Lists and Address Lists
- Allow the renaming of mail lists and address lists
- Added check to make sure that OS9 users have CarbonLib 1.6 installed. The
use of an earlier version of CarbonLib was causing crashes for some OS 9.1
users.
- Better handling of background network activity for OS 9 admin users
- Improved the error messages that are displayed when an administrator cannot
log in.
- Fixed problem where Letterrip was not properly processing attachments from
certain mail clients. Most notably Eudora for Macintosh.
- Fixed bug in Email Admin functionality that would limit the number or processed
lines to 20 at a time.
