Installing LetterRip 4.0

Before you use LetterRip Pro you must install the software and perform some initial configuration. There are two main parts to LetterRip Pro; the server and the admin. The server is used to receive and re-distribute mail. The admin is used to configure the server and optionally to monitor activity on the server.
1.

Copy the Letterrip Server and Administrator files from the disk image to their proper locations on your computer.

OS 9 install instructions

  • Copy the file "LetterRip Server" from the "OS9 Server" folder on the install image to the Applications folder on your computer.
  • Copy the file "LetterRip_Admin" from the install image to the Applications folder on your computer.
OS X install instructions

  • Copy the files "LetterRip_Server" and "Launch_Letterrip_Server" from the "OSX Server" folder on the install image to the Applications folder on your computer (or wherever you prefer).
  • Copy the file "LetterRip_Admin" from the install image to the Applications folder on your computer (or wherever you prefer).

If you are upgrading from LetterRip 3.0, or any prior version.

OS 9 install instructions

Copy your old "LetterRip Files" folder from it's old location to either;
  • {boot drive}:System Folder:Application Support, or
  • {boot drive}:Documents
OS X install instructions

Copy your old "LetterRip Files" folder from it's old location to {Boot Drive}/Library/Application Support

Run the following two lines in the "Terminal" application. This application can be found in the "Utilities" folder of the Application folder.
  • cd "/Library/Application Support"
  • sudo chown -R {logged in username} "LetterRip Files"
This will ensure that the logged in user in OS X has permission to access the files that LetterRip manages.
